Almost a year had passed since Miss Universe 2016 Pia Wurtzbach’s historical and controversial crowning event. This year, the reigning Miss Universe’s country will host the highly coveted pageant. Last year’s controversial host Steve Harvey will again host this year’s pageant, the Miss Universe 2017.
The last time the Philippines hosted the Miss Universe pageant was in 1994. The Philippines will host the pageant for the third time, the first tie was in 1974, all 20 years apart.
Bruno Mars to Perform This Year
Just after the contract signing of the event, Miss Universe Philippines’ President gave a hint as to whoever will perform in the upcoming pageant. She simply said that it will be someone with Filipino blood. When asked whether Bruno Mars will perform, she smiled and kept her silence.
Although the president didn’t confirm, no other Hollywood artist fit the bill but Bruno Mars. The Half-Filipino singer-composer’s schedule keeps getting busier as he recently performed in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show as a surprise guest. He also recently performed in the AMA’s with his hit single, 24K Magic.

Miss Universe 2017 Winner Predictions
Miss Universe’ official site already uploaded some of the candidate’s photos and profiles.Promising candidates already captured the interest of the fans. One of the most promising candidates this year is Miss USA Deshauna Barber. Barber actively serves in the US military and is the first one in the military to win the title.
This 27-year-old African-American beauty works directly with soldiers suffering from Post-traumatic stress disorder. Barber winning the pageant is just what the world needs amidst the revival of racial discrimination in the US. US President-elect Donald Trump formerly owns the Miss Universe Organization.
Another candidate to watch out for is Miss Brazil Raissa Santana. She is the first black woman from Brazil to have won the title after 30 years. Meanwhile, Argentinian candidate, Estefania Berna, catches the eye of the public with her beauty that can be compared to last year’s 1st runner-up Miss Colombia. With her thick eyebrows and full lips, her beauty inspires a trend.
Lastly, we won’t fail to mention Miss Philippines Maxine Medina. Will she land the title Miss Universe 2017 and give her country what Colombia almost achieved; a back to back crown?
