It’s good to be bad. A new Injustice 2 trailer has just been dropped by DC and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. And in it, we see a collection of brand new villains playable for the first time: Bane, Captain Cold, and Scarecrow. Now, the sequel to 2013’s Injustice: Gods Among Us fighting game has a roster that completely outshines its predecessor’s.
So, has your friend decided to pick up Batman or the Flash for their main? Perhaps matching them up with one of their nemeses could heat things up.
Who’s in the fray now? Let’s take a look.
The Man Who Broke The Bat
While the most recent Bane in mainstream is Tom Hardy’s, Injustice 2’s Bane looks much closer to his comic counterpart. He wears a luchador-style mask with a mouthpiece, presumably to let him breathe in his special venom serum. He also wears a dark body suit to give him a modern look.
From the way he flexes, and the huge punches and dropkicks we see him demonstrating, Bane is clearly a powerhouse type character. Players who pick him up will probably find he can do tons of damage with a few moves. And though the trailer doesn’t explicitly show his finisher animation, we can presume it’ll involve a dose of that venom he carries in that bodysuit.
Let’s Put You On Ice
Captain Cold joins the party as well, looking very much like he just stepped out of a comic book. As can be expected, he makes use of a variety of ice-related attacks. In the trailer, we see him freezing his enemies to the point of immobilization, and blasting a wall of ice in front of himself.
We also get a glimpse of what’s presumably his finisher. Captain Cold creates a spiral path of ice, which he slides up, blasting his foe, before leaping from the top for one more blow.
Scarescrow joins the party as well. And among the villains, his design looks the most original. The fear-inducing villain towers tall over the rest of the roster, thin and gaunt, his body looking much like a corpse’s. He wears a sack over his head, with his eyes and mouth getting an ominous red glow. A noose around his neck completes the look.
If the trailer is any indication, he’ll be one ferocious character to use. A long-reaching grappling hook, and a finisher that involves pulling his foe into a another dimension, help that fact.
It’s unclear yet how these three will service Injustice 2’s story, which involves Batman trying to piece society back together, while some loyalists to Superman seek to restore his rule.
Excited yet? Injustice 2 is released on May 19, 2017.
