The Walking Dead Chandler Riggs: Is He Leaving The Show For Good?

The Walking Dead Chandler Riggs will not be leaving the show anytime soon. This was confirmed by the 17-year-old actor through a Facebook post, where he announced signing a seven-year contract with AMC and Cast & Crew.

The full post read: “7-year contract completed! Grateful to AMC, Cast & Crew, TWD fan base and especially Chandler for always being 100% dedicated.”

The Walking Dead Chandler Riggs is going to college?

Rumors of The Walking Dead Chandler Riggs leaving the show started when he turned 17 years old and fans became worried that he would need to focus on going to college. Last month, such speculations were fired up by Riggs’ father’s comments that his son’s contract was almost up. This despite his mother insisting his character, Carl Grimes, will be staying in the show.

In the latest episode titled Sing Me A Song, Carl was at the front and center of events when he arrived at the Sanctuary with the goal of avenging the deaths of Glenn (Steven Yeun) and Abraham (Michael Cudlitz). But instead of killing Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), he was led around the compound by the Saviour’s leader and taken under his wing. This was reminiscent of one of the most memorable scenes in Robert Kirkman’s comic book source material.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, as quoted by Independent, Riggs hinted that if Carl will be written out of the show, it would be news to him. “You never know how it will go. I really do hope it works out because that would be really cool.”

The Walking Dead Chandler Riggs no contract for Season 8 yet

The Walking Dead Chandler Riggs, however, cannot fully stop the rumor from spreading, especially since he hasn’t signed a contract for the show’s eight season yet. Since the show was renewed for another season, there have been a lot of rumors regarding The Walking Dead cast and their contracts.

Riggs remained coy about it. What he confirmed is that he wants to attend college and be like a normal kid. He thinks going to college would be another “really cool, normal experience” in his life, not much like slaying zombies in his Carl persona.

The Walking Dead Chandler Riggs said he can take one or two classes on campus, as well as an online class, to be able to finish college. He hopes his professors would cooperate with him.
