Vampire Diaries Season 8: Nina Dobrev’s Return Might Be Impossible After All

Vampire Diaries Season 8 is set to return on Jan. 13. But we still haven’t heard if there’s a chance to see Nina Dobrev (Elena) before the show makes it bow in March. When she left the show two seasons ago, it was believed that she made a promise to producer Julie Plec that she’s open for a cameo in the final episode.

That doesn’t seem to be possible right now because Dobrev is busy with her other commitments. She has a new movie entitled XXX: The Return of Xander Cage. Also, she hasn’t secretly shot any episodes for Season 8, so that cameo may not happen at all.

Vampire Diaries Season 8 is faking Elena’s return?

A teaser of Vampire Diaries Season 8 Episode 9 showed Sybil (Nathalie Kelley) wearing a dress similar to the one Elena once wore in a beauty pageant. Titled The Simple Intimacy of the Near Touch, Sybil was seen looking exactly like Damon’s (Ian Somerhalder) ex-girlfriend.

In the episode, Sybil will invite Damon and Stefan (Paul Wesley) back to Mystic Falls because she is still in search of a historical artifact. She also wants to taunt Damon with memories of Elena. In previous episodes, Elena wore the exact same dress that Sybil will be donning in Episode 9.

Many fans are now killing any hopes that Dobrev will show up for the finale episode. Despite this, Plec is still reportedly talking to the actress about coming back for the show’s fans.

Dobrev not yet over Somerhalder?

We all know that Dobrev’s departure from the series was because of her real-life breakup from Somerhalder, who is now married to Nikki Reed. Apparently, the actress found it hard to work with Somerhalder in the show. So, she decided to move on from The CW series.

Yes, it’s quite understandable for Dobrev to protect her broken heart from Somerhalder. But really, she can’t do one episode for the fans? Since Vampire Diaries Season 8 will be the last for the series, she should find time to say goodbye to the show that made her a household name.
