This is Us Finale: Mandy Moore Defends Mystery Over Jack’s Death

The This Is Us backlash from frustrated viewers continues to circulate around the internet. Avid supporters thought they will finally come to know how the Pearson patriarch died. However, this is not what the showrunners had in mind. Meanwhile, Mandy Moore appeals to their viewers through her Instagram account to be patient.

NBC’s This Is Us aired their episode finale for their freshman season and people did not like it. After airing the penultimate episode, viewers thought that they’d finally see how Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) died. Especially with hints on the show’s episode finale trailer.

Mandy Moore Asks Audience To Be Patient

E! News reports that rather than seeing Jack’s sad demise, the episode featured Jack and Rebecca (Mandy Moore) calling a timeout in their marriage. Not only that, viewers also saw another time reverse when they had a glimpse of how Jack and Rebecca met for the first time.

The outlet noted that after watching the episode finale, fans feel that they have been “shortchanged.” Moore, on the other hand, made a plea to their viewers to be patient. The actress shared a photo of her and her reel partner on her Instagram account that included the actress’ appeal.

A portion of the caption reads: “And for those somehow frustrated with the finale not revealing how Jack passed, I would encourage patience. Otherwise, you might be watching the wrong show. Last night was fundamental to the bigger picture. The story deviated and ultimately landed on (I think) a more compelling question… what was the state of this relationship in the end?”

I stand in awe of this friend of mine. He is the ultimate partner in crime and he absolutely knocked it out of the park on every level in last night's finale. I am the luckiest. Can't believe we have 18 behind us and atleast 36 ahead, Mi. Wow. And for those somehow frustrated with the finale not revealing how Jack passed, I would encourage patience. Otherwise you might be watching the wrong show. Last night was fundamental to the bigger picture. The story deviated and ultimately landed on (I think) a more compelling question… what was the state of this relationship in the end? And as Milo so eloquently stated, let's focus on how the man lived! Stay tuned cause it's all leading somewhere and we're just getting started.

This Is Us Recap

Washington Post reported that though fans did not get the episode they have been clamoring for, the Moonshadow episode was not a “throwaway episode.” The outlet noted that it gave viewers an “intimate look at Jack and Rebecca’s relationship.” In addition, how the marriage changed them individually.

The episode showed a particular time period of where Jack and Rebecca were before they fell in love. The source notes that Jack was a Vietnam veteran who is working odd jobs in hopes that he can get out of his abusive father’s house. Meanwhile, Rebecca is a struggling singer who has had disapproving comments from friends and family about her chosen career.

The two locked eyes while Rebecca was performing in an open mic gig at a bar that Jack planned to rob. Whilst their relationship was about to start in that time period, their married version was struggling. Rebecca decided that they needed some time apart so she asked him to stay with his best friend, Miguel.

#ThisIsUs fans… this is all because of you. Thank you. ❤️
