The Vampire Diaries Season 8: Dead Enzo To Return For Series Finale

The Vampire Diaries season 8 is running headlong toward its series finale. But the show isn’t about to end without giving its viewers a few more nasty surprises. Hence, a major character died last Friday’s episode. Enzo St. John has officially been added to Stefan’s list of victims, after the latter ripped the former’s heart out. Literally.

For fans of Enzo, however, the news isn’t all bad. Actor Michael Malarkey has confirmed his involvement in the long-running drama’s finale. Enzo may be dead now, but we can expect his return in some form before the series takes its final bow.

This Is The End

“I’ve gone in and done a couple bits here and there,” Malarkey told TV Line, in response to questions about the show’s finale. “It’s nice to be able to wrap this thing up the way they’ve done it, to know this is the end, and to do it justice.”

Those comments had come shortly before Enzo’s death had aired. That was the 11th episode of The Vampire Diaries season 8, You Made A Choice To Be Good. He also added that writer and executive producer Julie Plec had informed him of the character death beforehand.

“I kind of knew it was coming, how it all wraps up,” he said, “Julie had talked to some of us beforehand, telling us some ideas, so I was prepared for either way it would go… It’s nice to come full circle with Julie directing the last one, and bringing back some familiar faces.”

Where is Enzo? See Michael Malarkey on the final season of #TVD, Friday at 8/7c on The CW!

The Vampire Diaries Season 8 Finale – Returning Faces

Malarkey’s Enzo isn’t the only one making his way back to Mystic Falls for The Vampire Diaries season 8 finale. David Anders (John Gilbert), Kayla Ewell (Vicki Donovan), and Michael Trevino (Tyler Lockwood) are all expected to make finale appearances as well, according to Hollywood Life. Some of those faces have already cameoed in the episode Nostalgia’s A Bitch.

But the single most anticipated return, of course, is that of Nina Dobrev’s Elena Gilbert. The face of the show for six seasons before being cursed and put into an indefinite sleep, Elena’s return is only fitting for the series’ end. Months of speculation from the fans, and evasion on Dobrev’s part, ended with a photo of her on set.

The filming of the series finale has naturally induced plenty of emotion from its cast. Many of them were there for the show’s humble beginnings in 2009. So, it’s only fair that the ending of the Elena, Damon, and Stefan’s story is expected to be one big, bittersweet love letter to the fans. And it premieres this March 10 on The CW.
