The Vampire Diaries: Nina Dobrev Wraps Up Elena’s Final Scene, Bids Emotional Goodbye

The Vampire Diaries is soon coming to an end, and though this stirs mixed feelings among fans, they are certainly not alone. Nina Dobrev who reprised her role as the iconic Elena Gilbert for the finale, also felt some of these bittersweet feelings.

With The CW’s popular drama show ending soon, the 28-year-old star wrote a sweet letter to her fans to thank them for all the support. There, she recounted how the show made who she is today and what the show meant for her.

It is a bittersweet time for The Vampire Diaries fans when it was announced that the show was ending soon. Despite this, show runners gave fans what they wanted one last time, that is, seeing Dobrev back on the show.

With her return, the actress took to Instagram to pen an emotional letter for all the TVD fans who have shown their support since the start.

“It feels like it was just yesterday that I was saying goodbye,” Dobrev wrote. “And yet two years have passed and here we are again. This is my true final goodbye, as today I shot my last scene of The Vampire Diaries forever. Coming back for the series finale has been a whirlwind of emotion, nostalgia, love, tears of joy and bittersweet endings.”

Nina Dobrev also expressed her gratitude for the popular teen drama show that made her a star, writing: “I grew up on this show and am eternally grateful for all the opportunities it has given me, and so thankful for each and every person who worked on The Vampire Diaries‘ over the last eight years. We are all pieces of a big puzzle and without every truly amazing cast and crew member, this magical puzzle would not be complete.”

She even signed the note, “Katherine, Amara, Tatia, and of course, Elena Gilbert. #TVDforever #FangsForTheMemories”
