Prison Break Season 5 Starts Tuesday; Paul Scheuring Says It’s A Close-Ended Piece

Prison Break Season 5 will air its premiere episode tomorrow, April 4. With this, Michael Scofield and company returns to the small screen with nine episodes. Meanwhile, show creator Paul Scheuring reveals that the series is already a “close-ended piece.”

Prison Break Season 5 Airs On April 4

Brothers Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) and Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) are back in Prison Break Season 5. Collider reports that the Fox series will run for nine episodes starting off with the first episode revealing that the “thought-to-be-dead Michael” is actually alive.

In the outlet’s interview with Prison Break creator Paul Scheuring, he said that he feels strange returning to the small screen with another Prison Break series. However, Scheuring acknowledged that their timing to give viewers another glimpse of Michael and company was just right.

Moreover, Prison Break’s creator cited the changing culture of television, where shows do not need to do a full 22-episode run to come back, made it interesting for him and the Prison Break cast. Despite speculations that a sixth season is in the works, Scheuring commented that there is no plan to do so.

“No, this thing was designed as a close-ended piece. At the end, you’ll be like, ‘That was the dynamic. That’s what happened. And that’s how it was resolved. Wow!’ There’s no over-hanging piece that will make you want to come back next year,” said the creator.

Prison Break Season 5 Episode 1 titled Ogygia starts with a time jump of seven years. Everyone has already moved on from Michael’s death until Lincoln gets a visit from a familiar face telling him that his brother is alive.

A Prison Break Recap

While Prison Break fanatics can’t help but feel excited to unravel how Michael becomes undead, Yahoo TV gives a recap on what happened before Prison Break Season 5.

The latter report notes that Michael gave the Scylla to United Nations. Just a refresher, the Scylla is a hard drive that contains all the pertinent information about The Company. Because of what Michael did, the government exonerated C-Note (Rockmond Dunbar), Sucre (Amaury Nolasco) and his brother, Lincoln. Unfortunately, T-Bag remained in jail.

Moreover, Michael and Sara (Sarah Wayne Callies) wed and talked about their first child. Unfortunately, luck is not on their side because the police arrested Sarah for killing Christina Hampton. Of course, Michael is not going to let Sara stay in prison so he plans for her escape.

T-Bag learned of Michael’s plan and decides to tell the authorities. However, his plan worked against him because authorities considered him as Michael’s accomplice. Prison Break Season 4 ended with Michael six feet under in his efforts to save Sara. Prison Break Season 5 will air its first episode on April 4 on Fox. Excited to see the cast?
