After nine years, MBC executives are reportedly in talks whether the reality show We Got Married stays on air or if it’s time for the show to say goodbye to its viewers. Soompi reports that MBC denies previous news reports claiming about the show’s cancellation.

The outlet notes that there has been no firm decision to cancel the reality show. Asia Starz reports that the network is planning to reorganize and are preparing a pilot program. However, the network insider stated that “no specific programs have been discussed in regard to cancellation.”

On the other hand, the production team of the show does not want to address the cancellation speculations because they are still filming for the series. Moreover, the show’s top head wants to verify the details first before making any statements.

We Got Married Reality Show News

MBC’s We Got Married reality show debuted on television in Feb. 2008. The show pairs up Korean celebrities to show what would life be like if they were married. In the show’s first season, the reality series paired couples Alex and Shin Ae, Crown J and Seo In Young.

The show assigns each married couple with a mission to complete. Moreover, the show captures the participants’ candid interviews to reveal their thoughts and feelings about their partner and missions.

Because of the show’s popularity, it expanded into a global edition where celebrities from other Asian countries like Japan and Taiwan are being paired. For the first We Got Married global edition, the show paired 2PM’s Taecyeon with Taiwanese singer Emma Wu. Meanwhile, “FTISLAND’s Lee Hong Ki married Japanese actress Mina Fujii got married on the reality show.

Despite a successful run, the show had its share of controversies. One of controversy the show faced was about its integrity. This is because previous We Got Married cast members got involved in dating scandals while they were still filming for the show.

The outlet notes that even with this issue, We Got Married is still one of the most watched weekend programs in MBC’s lineup. The show is currently in its fourth season and the show’s married couples are Lee Guk Joo and Sleepy, Gong Myung and Jung Hye Sung, and Choi Min Young and Jang Do Yen.
