The latest Lethal Weapon Season 2 news will definitely make Roger Murtaugh and Martin Riggs’ fans happy. The action series received an early season 2 renewal, as announced on Feb. 22. According to Fox’s entertainment president, the Damon Wayans-Clayne Crawford tandem continues to “fire on all cylinders.”
Lethal Weapon Season 2 Ordered
The suspense on whether Lethal Weapon will get its sophomore season is finally over. TVLine reports that the buddy-cop comedy action series got an early Season 2 renewal of 22 episodes.
The outlet notes that the Fox TV series had strong numbers ever since it aired in September. The publication reports that when Lethal Weapon premiered, the series garnered a “decent 7.9 million viewers.” In addition, the Matt Miller series received a 2.2 viewership rating then. Moreover, the show currently averages “11 million viewers across all platforms.”
Meanwhile, TV Series Finale reported that in a statement released by Fox Entertainment President David Madden, the executive commended the show for its ratings. “Lethal Weapon continues to fire on all cylinders,” said Madden.
The outlet notes that apart from the series’ ratings, Madden also highlighted the chemistry among the entire Lethal Weapon cast. His statement reads: “Every week, it (Lethal Weapon) delivers a big, fun rollercoaster ride, but also remains touchingly human and genuinely emotional.”

Fox’s entertainment president thanked their producing partners, Warner Bros. and creator Matt Miller. Moreover, Madden commended the show’s executive producers for a job well-done. The Lethal Weapon TV series stars Damon Wayans as Roger Murtaugh and Clayne Crawford as Martin Riggs.
Murtaugh is a senior Los Angeles Police Detective officer who just recently return to service after recovering from a heart attack. Meanwhile, Riggs (Crawford), a Navy SEAL-turned-police officer, who moves to Los Angeles after the death of his wife and unborn child.

In tonight’s episode titled Unnecessary Roughness, Murtaugh and Crawford worked on a murder case assignment. According to the synopsis, the two police officers would dip their hands to the “world of college recruiting.” Meanwhile, Crawford’s character thought of the big shift from his personal life. This would be because of his closeness to DEA Agent Karen Palmer (Hilarie Burton).

This police comedy drama series is not a new concept. Lethal Weapon is loosely based on a hit movie franchise that starred Danny Glover and Mel Gibson in the 80s. Apart from Wayans and Crawford, Jordana Brewster and Keesha Sharp are also included in the series.
