After months of speculation, Disney announced bad news saying that Girl Meets World has been cancelled. After a three-season run, the show closes its curtains, and this news has certainly shocked avid followers of the show.
Just recently, Rider Strong, an actor in the original 90s show and the reboot, stirred up rumors of the show’s end. It was not until the writers confirmed this new to be true when they took to Twitter to tell fans that Girl Meets World will no longer continue.

The news, while upsetting the show’s loyal fanbase, has long been expected. In fact, several members from the cast and crew already posted cryptic messages on social media after filming the season 3 finale. Now, the third season’s finale will serve as the last one for the show. Moreover, TV Line even mentions that Strong, who plays Cory’s best friend Shawn Hunter also mentioned that the show already “ended” in an episode of his podcast.
Not long after, the show’s writers took to Twitter to share the announcement, saying “It is with incredible pride in our work and complete sadness that things end, that I report to this wonderful audience that our show is over. I just officially got the call, and would like to thank this audience for its incredible love and loyalty. Please watch our January episodes.”

Girl Meets World cancelled: What to expect; Rowan Blanchard pens sweet message for fans
Even though the show has already been cancelled, there will be three more episodes remaining in Season 3, with the finale on Jan. 20. Girl Meets World will officially and finally air a total of 72 episodes then.
“We leave you with three incredible souvenirs of a show we couldn’t be more proud of,” they continued. “As I look back I can tell you with absolute certainty—we gave you our best,” the tweet said.
Girl Meets World tells the story of Riley Matthews (Rowan Blanchard) and her friends and family. The reboot is a spin off from the 90s sitcom Boy Meets World. In the original series, star Cory Matthews (Ben Savage) is Riley’s dad.
Blanchard also tried to put into words how she was feeling about the future. “I have tried to go in and write this many times in preparation for this moment that I feared might come,” the actress, 15, said. “I will never be able to put into words my gratitude for Michael Jacobs, the creator of our world, for bring us together—by all, I mean us and you.”
