Game of Thrones Season 8: Shorter But Definitely Not Cancelled, HBO Says

The seventh installment of the HBO hit series is due some time this Summer. Game of Thrones season 8 is still on a dubious note.

First things first – Game of Thrones season 8 is far away from seeing the light of the day. Once the season 7 comes to an end, the subsequent and seemingly the final season comes into question. Additionally, HBO’s Programming President Casey Bloys has an optimistic update on the final season. One thing for certain – the show won’t cut short its run.

Game of Thrones Season 8: HBO Stance

HBO Network had a talisman in the form of Game of Thrones for the past decade, one could say. Not only did the show set some exceptional standards in the TV realm, but it was also commercially astounding. Thanks to GRRM’s impeccable story-telling and HBO’s investment, such standards were accomplished. All men must die and the final curtains will fall soon, perhaps.

Casey spoke to TVLine to clear the air surrounding the Game of Thrones season 8. Under the circumstances, the upcoming season will feature a good 7 episodes. Needless to say, it’s 3 episodes shy of the conventional format. Due to the anomaly, confusion was rife about the number of episodes for the 2018’s final season or if there will even be one.

Furthermore, Casey assured that HBO are “going to do” the eighth season. However, there is no final word on the number of episodes. Earlier statements from Benioff and Weiss had it that they will stick to just six – summing up the total episodes to 13 for the last two seasons. Turns out, it is still in the works.

The Anticipation

Unlike many other shows who had a good run but were devoid of a fitting finale, Benioff begs to differ. He is leaving no stones unturned to deliver a worthy finale, for what it’s worth. Which explains why there’s so much uncertainty and delay with the final seasons, of course. The show runners are currently laying an outlay on how they want to end the series.

On a slightly different note, fans are growing impatient with the new season. There are many pieces of the puzzle that are still not in the place they should be. Evil is at the door, winter is colder than ever and war is no choice. It’s show time soon folks!
