Criminal Minds Season 12: Will Reid Be Charged With Murder

The previous episode of Criminal Minds season 12 sees Spencer Reid in a tight situation. Not only is he slammed with drug charges in Mexico but Reid is also dealing with accounts of murder. Will he ever get out of this?

Criminal Minds Seasonn 12: What Happened

In Criminal Minds season 12 episode 13, Reid (played by Matthew Gray Gubler) is being held accountable for the murder of a doctor in Mexico. This has the Behavioral Analysis Unit join forces with the International Response Team to investigate the case.

Episode 14 shows us that Reid has Fiona Duncan (played by Jeananne Goossen) as his defense attorney. This all goes well until Duncan starts grilling him and Reid doesn’t seem to have all the answers she’s been looking for.

Guilty Or Not Guilty

The big question on the show so far is Reid pleading guilty or not guilty. Reid doesn’t seem to remember much of what happened during that incident. All he remembers are bits and pieces and though Duncan said she believes him, it’s still not enough to set Reid free.

Emily Prentiss was the one who sent Duncan to Reid. She’s an old friend of Prentiss’ and even though Reid tells her that helping him could destroy her reputation, Prentiss’ still pleaded to let her help him.

A bit of spoiler alert: we’ll be seeing more of Duncan. Showrunner Erica Messer spoke to TVGuide.com saying that Jeananne Goossen will stay for a “number of episodes”. We’re not sure what that means but it could be that Reid’s case might take a while to be solved.

Messer also added that Reid is really in a difficult position. There’s so much going on in his head at the moment such as his moral side and FBI agent side clashing against the other. Could he have done something of the sort? Or does he admit to something he doesn’t even remember?

Messer describes the situation as Reid making a deal with the devil. Furthermore, it seems that Reid is still deciding whether or not he should take his chances in proving his innocence.

We sure hope that there’s progress from the International Response Team when the episode airs. While Reid is stuck in jail, it’s up to Clara Seger (played by Alana de la Garza) and Matt Simmons (played by Daniel Henney) to find out what happened.

Criminal Minds Season 12 airs every Wednesdays on CBS at 9/8c.
