Spotify is one of our favorite applications and it has come to our attention that there might be a Spotify App for Apple Watch coming soon. This is really exciting news for people who both own an Apple Watch and have a taste for listening to tunes on the go. And this is also great news for budding third-party developers as Spotify has hired the man responsible for the app.
If you wanted to utilize the Spotify app on the Apple Watch, you would have to use a third-party application. Andrew Chang, a third-party app developer created “Spotty” which even featured offline playback and after it got the attention of the Apple Watch community it also soon got the eyes of the guys over at Spotify.
Spotify App for Apple Watch
A statement by Chang in Reddit says:
I’m thrilled to announce that I’ll be working closely with Spotify to bring Snowy to the Apple Watch as part of an official Spotify iOS app… I can’t wait to take things to the next level with the expertise and tools available at Spotify.
According to GSM Arena, Spotify contacted Chang to change the name of the app due to its resemblance to Spotify name. However, the exchange did not end there, shortly after, he was contacted again to work with Spotify in developing the company’s official application. From a third-party app developer, he is now officially a member of the Spotify team. Surely, great news for Andrew Chang.
This is definitely really good news for people who own an Apple Watch. There have been many issues in the past with regard to the availability of every app available on the iPhone on the Apple Watch. However, given that it’s not exactly a “full form” smart device, it is really tricky to port regular apps onto the device. Even your usual apps that are available on the iPhone are not easily available on an Apple computer.
