Every year, the Super Bowl is undoubtedly the most-watched program all over the world. With the option of watching it in the comfort of your home, or streaming it online, nothing comes close to the massive popularity Super Bowl season brings. That said, the audience are always in for a treat with the best, funniest, weirdest, and even most controversial set of commercials shown in between games. This year, with reports saying that over 100 million sports fans tuned in, check out which commercials caught the attention of many and got people talking.
Super Bowl 2017 Commercials: On The Subject Of Immigrants
With President Donald Trump’s recent policies surrounding immigration, many of the commercials centered on this highly controversial topic. Although some brands’ commercials were already in the works prior to Trump’s inauguration, many chose to see it as a political response. For instance, Budweiser’s Born The Hard Way told the ambitious origin story of Adolphus Busch and his pursuit of the American Dream. That is, “to brew the King of Beers.”
Taking things to a more serious note, popular homestay app Airbnb was not one to miss out on the trend. The brand’s commercial, dubbed We Accept, gave a directly political response. In big, bold letter, the screen flashes with “The world is more beautiful the more you accept.” In line with the administration’s discriminatory agenda, Airbnb’s ad goes straight to the point. This commercial is definitely feisty!
84 Lumber, on the other hand, did not beat around the bush to get their message across millions of people. Things were definitely political in their ad entitled The Journey Begins. 84 Lumber’s ad garnered much attention owing to its overtly political and striking commercial. It shows a mother and daughter traveling from Mexico to America, only to find a huge wall blocking the border. It was so controversial that Fox censored the end of the commercial.
Super Bowl 2017 Commercials: These Ads Will Make You Laugh
Putting things on a lighter note, ads from juice brand Bai (Big Game Ad), Skittles (Romance), and Mr. Clean (Cleaner of your Dreams) made the audience laugh out loud. Check out the clips from the other brands below that’s sure to make you guffaw.
The Mr. Clean ad could make you a little comfortable, but let’s admit how funny it is either way! Bai’s commercial seemed out of the ordinary featuring Justin Timberlake and Christopher Walken. Last but not the least, Skittles definitely trumped in the quirkiness category, as they do every year.
