‘Who is James Mattis’ is indeed the hot topic over the recent week. His nicknames are certainly giving him all the press he needs.
The likely Secretary of Defense has some nicknames to reckon with. Matter of fact, just quoting his nicknames like, “Chaos”, “Warrior Monk” and “Mad Dog” is enough to establish his temperament. Perhaps, an abstract look into his life and achievements paints a brutal, yet intellectual picture. Better question than ‘Who is James Mattis’ is ‘Why James Mattis’, turns out!
Who is James Mattis?
James “Mad Dog” Mattis is the guy America needs to balance the ambiguity Donald Trump necessitates. This isn’t any other guy who has blood in his hands, he is the guy who will justify every last drop. He was in service since 1969, until his retirement in 2013. Not a well-known rubber stamp, he takes no prisoners with his ideologies.
Mad Dog got a whiff of military action during the Persian Gulf War. Needless to say, there was no stopping this guy from that point. Circumstances took him to Afghanistan and he came back a leader. Some marines recall those times when James was on the front lines with his battalion, when he could just sleep off the chilly nights.
In addition to his bravery, it was his methodical disposition that makes him the right guy for the job. The Iraq war is a testament to his ruthless approach and second-to-none resoluteness with protocol. Furthermore, his return to Pentagon’s affairs saw him as the commander of the US Central Command. Irrespective of what his military accomplishments are, Obama administration and James never saw eye to eye.

James Mattis – Obama, Iran and More
If there’s someone who detest James, it’s Iran indeed. James doesn’t like Iran. Period. Perhaps, his vehement ambitions to lock horns with Iran got the better of him. Obama was signing nuke deals with Iran and he didn’t see any other way than seeking his resignation. James, on the other hand, has the last laugh in the matter currently.
Donald Trump, for his part, is a guy who likes unconventional way of doing things. Twitter diplomacy, for starters. No wonder he’s contemplating a guy who says “It’s a hell of a lot of fun to shoot” Taliban fighters for the top job. Aside from his military exploits, he’s an avid reader too. He has a collection of over 7000 volumes on warfare and history. He is a life-long bachelor, believes in the study of war.
He once told Iraqi leaders that “If you f–k with me, I’ll kill you all”. That should pretty much sum it up for the ‘Who is James Mattis’ question!
