Korean media outlets reported that T-Ara Jiyeon is preparing for a solo comeback. It has been confirmed that Jiyeon is heavily involved in the production of her new album. There are no details regarding the album’s concept, the title track, and the release date.
Back in 2014, Jiyeon released her first solo mini-album called Never Ever, with 1 MIN 1 SEC title track. There, Jiyeon showed her sexy and mature side despite the fact that T-Ara is known for cute concepts. In addition to being a local hit, Never Ever peaked at the third spot in Gaon’s album chart.
Could Her Breakup Be The Inspiration For Her Comeback?
A few days before Jiyeon’s comeback was announced, it was reported that she broke up with actor Lee Dong Gun. The two began dating back in 2015 during the set of Korean-Chinese collaborative movie Encounter. According to Soompi, a source said that the ex-couple parted ways because of their busy schedule.
“They ended their relationship and decided it’s for the best if they remain as colleagues. They find it difficult to meet up because of their hectic schedules,” the source said.
MBK Entertainment confirmed that T-Ara Jiyeon and Lee Dong Gun are no longer dating. The company also added that the ex-couple ended their relationship in December 2016. Now that her comeback is near, many fans could not help but wonder if Lee Dong Gun is one of her inspirations for her upcoming album.
On Feb. 2, Jiyeon conducted a live broadcast session on Instagram. Although her face was partially concealed, the singer looked noticeably happy during the session. She revealed that she’s with fellow T-Ara member Qri and apologized for their lack of makeup.
During the session, one fan commented that Jiyeon must cheer up despite her breakup. Seeing the comment, the young singer smiled and said, “I’m okay.”
