There will be a Lorde new album on March 2 (Thursday). Her much anticipated musical comeback will happen on March 3 (Friday) in New Zealand and on March 2 in the US (time difference, hello).
The New Zealand-native made the announcement through a TV advert that features her riding in a car while listening to her music. She was even seen sipping a drink from a takeaway cup. The advert aired on several channels in her native country.
Lorde New Album Still Hazy
There is no word yet regarding Lorde new album on Thursday. Is this going to be a mere single or is it a full record? The Royals singer released her critically acclaimed debut album entitled Pure Heroine back in 2013.
In 2014, she released her track, Yellow Flicker Beat, which was used for the soundtrack of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1. She has not released a new music since then.
In the summer of 2016, fans offended her on social media when they criticized her for her “musical inactivity.” No word has been heard from her since the 2014 track, after all. Lorde, whose real name is Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O’Connor, took offense and told fans she has been “working like a dog” on a new album.
In November 2016, she updated fans of the progress of her new album. She tweeted a picture of her listening to new songs in the studio. But it wasn’t until earlier this February when hints of her new album came up.
A press release from her label, Republic Records, was leaked online. There, it said that the album will be released on March 7.
Lorde Poured Her Heart Out
In an emotional post on Facebook, Lorde talked about her coming of age. She said she’s not a kid anymore, like when she made Pure Heroine. But it was okay for her because that album enshrined “our teenage glory.”
She believed that “part of me never dies” because of Pure Heroine. The next album, however, will be about what comes next for her. She was so excited about the album last November, saying that she wants her fans to see the album cover and listen to the lyrics.
Lorde new album is the best she has written so far. But, she asked for a bit more time because she wants to make it as good as it can be. That time certainly has come now.
