Grammys 2017: Did Justin Bieber Mock Adele

It seems that Justin Bieber just threw a major shade at Adele hours before the Grammys 2017. On his Instagram account, Bieber posted a live video poking fun at the Hello singer.

“Why did Adele cross the road? Bieber, 22, asked in the video. “She wanted to say hello from the other side,” Bieber answered before laughing at his own jokes. The pop superstar has 77 million followers on his Instagram, so it’s safe to say that millions of people caught this.

This is obviously a reference to one of Adele’s biggest hits, Hello. This song is nominated at the Grammys 2017 for the Record of the Year and Song of the Year, along with Bieber’s Love Yourself. As of press time, Hello just won Best Pop Solo Performance, besting Love Yourself, Hold Up (Beyonce), Piece by Piece (Kelly Clarkson), and Dangerous Woman (Ariana Grande).

Bieber could just be having fun, of course, and he might not mean anything with the joke. The timing, however, seems suspicious because he and Adele are going head-to-head in a number of Grammy categories. They are competing for the biggest award of the night—Album of the Year.

But don’t worry, Adele and Bieber fans, this is surely just a harmless fun. Adele’s mature enough to know that the Purpose singer is merely poking fun at her ahead of a big night for the two of them. During the 2016 Brit Awards, Bieber gave Adele a kiss on the cheek when she was called to accept one of her four awards that night.

In turn, Adele gave a shout out to Bieber’s earlier performance, officially ending speculations that there’s bad blood between them. There were rumors that Bieber was responsible for the sound issues that derailed Adele’s Grammy 2016 performance.

Bieber did not attend Grammys 2017

Even though he has four nominations, Bieber chose to skip this year’s Grammy Awards night because it’s not representative or relevant to young singers. He’s up for Song of the Year (Love Yourself), Album of the Year (Purpose), Best Pop Vocal Album (Purpose), and Best Pop Solo Performance (Love Yourself).

Bieber is not the only one who’s not attending the Grammys 2017. Frank Ocean and Kanye West also decided to skip this year’s celebration because of they don’t think it still lives up to its prestige. On Sunday night, Bieber posted a photo of him and an adorable family member, which might mean he decided to spend the night at home.
