Fifty Shades Darker: Hello, Taylor Swift!

Are you surprised with the Fifty Shades Darker collaboration by Zayn Malik and Taylor Swift? Well, you’re not the only one. When they released I Don’t Want To Live Forever, everyone was taken aback by the team up.

But apparently, this did not happen by accident, and the two worked seamlessly. Malik was a guest on Elvis Duran and the Morning Show on Dec. 13 (Tuesday). As quoted by MTV, the former One Directioner discussed how his and Swift’s collaboration came about.

Taylor liked the Fifty Shades Darker song

Malik said he was working on the song with Jack Antonoff, one of Swift’s friends. He was the one to let Swift hear the song. This triggered the collaboration between Swift and Malik for the Fifty Shades Darker theme.

The fact that Swift is one of Gigi Hadid’s, Malik’s girlfriend, close friends helped make the team-up possible. He said that Swift was the one to reach out to him after hearing I Don’t Want To Live Forever from Antonoff.

That time, Malik already knew the pop star liked the song because of Hadid. He asked her to be in it and she agreed. They didn’t record the song together, though. Swift recorded her portion at singer Sam Dew’s, Lena Dunham’s boyfriend, house.

I Don’t Want To Live Forever another perfect Swift collaboration

The release of I Don’t Want To Live Forever, which is the perfect song for Fifty Shades Darker, adds to Swift’s catalog of duets. This is certainly not the first time the Bad Blood singer made headlines with her collaboration.

Other team-ups were: Bad Blood with Kendrick Lamar, Both Of Us with B.O.B., Everything Has Changed with Ed Sheeran, Highway Don’t Care with Tim McGraw, Half Of My Heart with John Mayer, The Last Time with Gary Lightbody, Safe & Sound with The Civil Wars, and Two Is Better Than One with Boys Like Girls.

Hopefully, this wouldn’t be the last time Swift and Malik would wow us with a collaboration? There is certainly chemistry and artistry in the way their voices meshed together. Fifty Shades Darker will surely be another hit not only because of the story, but also because of the theme song.
