All eyes were on Fifth Harmony during the People’s Choice Awards 2017 last week as they performed for the first time as a quartet. They were, of course, missing Camila Cabello, who left the group in December. It turned out, though, that the group can work out their harmonies just fine.
So, who’s missing Cabello? The 19-year-old dramatically parted way with the group just before Christmas last year. Sources said the issue all stemmed from jealousy within the quintet because Cabello has always been the most famous and praised in the group.
Fifth Harmony is doing fine without Cabello
Cabello used to sing the first lines of Work From Home but during the People Choice Awards 2017, the group managed to harmonize on it without missing a beat. Everyone breathed out a sigh of relief. For some reason, they thought the quartet would ruin the song.
After the performance, they accepted the award for Favorite Group, marking the second year in a row to win the award. They did it without Cabello, of course. During their speech, Normani Kordei thanked their fans, the harmonizers, without which they would “be nothing.”
For her part, Cabello is expected to release her own music sometime this year. She said this shortly after leaving the group and wishing them the best in the industry. Fifth Harmony fans are clearly upset about the finality of seeing the group perform without Cabello.
Was it all jealousy?
While competing on The X-Factor USA, judge Demi Lovato singled out Cabello as the one who shined among the group members. The group performed Taylor Swift’s We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together. Lovato said the rest of the group should learn from Cabello, who was gracious enough to say that she thought they all shone bright.
Sources close to the group, however, have been saying that the four are jealous of the attention that Cabello gets. Was that the reason why she was seemingly pushed out from Fifth Harmony? Only time can tell as the four denied such reports and said they all reached out to Cabello to mend fences.
