It looks like Drake and Nicki Minaj are friends once again. The two recently shared a photo on their Instagram pages, showing the two just hanging out with each other. This ends months of tension caused by Drake’s feud with Minaj’s ex, rapper Meek Mill. Now that the Pink Friday artist has confirmed she’s single once again, any feud with Drake’s become water under the bridge.
It’s an fair way to start Black History Month, the annual practice of celebrating and recognizing the achievements of African Americans in history and culture. By defusing any tension between them, Drake and Nicki Minaj make sure that February can be focused on their music.

Mill aAnd Minaj
To understand how Drake and Nicki Minaj’s friendship took a bit of a detour, we have to look at Minaj’s dating history with Mill.
Meek Mill and Nicki Minaj got together shortly after her breakup with Safaree Samuels. They announced their relationship as official in April 2015, soon dropping a track, All Eyes On You, with Chris Brown. The single, which was also the lead on Mill’s album Dreams Worth More Than Money, went platinum. It also peaked at no. 21 on the Billboard Top 100.
Then, in July 2015, Mill posted a tweet, calling out Drake for not writing his own lyrics to some of his tracks:
Stop comparing drake to me too…. He don't write his own raps! That's why he ain't tweet my album because we found out! 😁
— Meek Mill (@MeekMill) July 22, 2015
Though ghostwriting is not uncommon in the music industry, the artistic expectations of a pop culture icon like Drake are pretty high. Some saw the call-out as a diss at Drake. Others sided with Mill, claiming that he was simply being honest. It didn’t help, however, that Meek Mill also slammed some of Drake’s lines that made it to the final album. “He ain’t even write that verse on my album,” Mill tweeted, “and if I woulda knew, I woulda took it off my album.”
Break Up And Reconciliation
Nicki Minaj eventually broke her silence on the feud between her then-boyfriend and her good friend. In an interview with the New York Times, she said, “They’re men. They’re grown-ass men. I hate it. It doesn’t make me feel good. You don’t want to choose sides between people you love. It’s ridiculous. I just want it to be over.”
Nicki must have felt strongly about it, because when the interviewer asked her if she thrived on drama, she took offense to it and walked out of the room. But since then, she’s confirmed that she’s single again. That announcement pretty much buried the hatchet between Drake and Nicki Minaj as well.
