BRIT Awards 2017: One Direction Beats Zayn Malik Over British Video Of The Year

The recently concluded BRIT Awards 2017 had put Zayn Malik and his former One Direction band in a friendly competition with the latter emerging as the winner. Liam Payne accepted the British Artist Video of the Year award on behalf of the group. Meanwhile, fans posted their reaction to 1D’s win.
Whether they like it or not, Zayn Malik and One Direction members will cross paths someday. The much-awaited incident happened when Malik and his former boy group were both nominated for the British Artist Video of the Year.

One Direction Wins Video Of The Year

Malik’s Pillowtalk video went head-to-head with One Direction’s History. The award was given to 1D where Liam Payne accepted the award on behalf of the boys. The outlet notes that these artists bested out other artists like Coldplay, Little Mix, and James Arthur, who were all nominated for the category. reports that Payne addressed the fans and said, “One Direction is who we are and who we always will be.” One Direction fans were quick to post their comments about Payne’s speech and the group’s win.

Twitter user @Catsareweirder tweeted that she “actually screamed” and fell of her bed when she saw Payne on television. Other supporters posted GIFs expressing their happiness that their favorite British boy band won the award.

On the other hand, a few One Direction Twitter users hoped that the group will reunite soon. Meanwhile, Payne and co-member Louis Tomlinson thanked their fans through social media. Payne’s tweet reads: “But seriously tho thank you again everybody I’m gobsmacked once again.”

One Directions Fourth Video Of The Year Win

1D’s win at the BRIT Awards tonight is the group’s fourth. They first won the British Artist Video of Year in 2014 for their song, Best Song Ever. A year later, the group won the award for You & I. In 2016, the group’s single, Drag Me Down received the recognition for the same category. This is the group’s first win without Malik as a member.

The initial report noted that it was in March 2015 when Malik decided to break off from the group to pursue his solo career. However, after two years, the source noted that the group seemed to be communicating once again.

Malik reached out to his former band member, Tomlinson when his mom passed away in December. Meanwhile, Payne sent Malik a message through Twitter when Gigi Hadid’s boyfriend celebrated his birthday last January.
