X-Men Supernova: X-Men Starts Filming With Sophie Turner As Jean Grey

Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner just confirmed that she’ll reprise her role as the young Jean Grey in X-Men Supernova. Turner said that they’ll soon begin filming for the 20th Century Fox live adaptations, especially since she’s done with GoT Season 7.

Speaking to the HeyUGuys, as quoted by Screen Rant, the actress revealed that she has just finished filming for the highly-anticipated seventh season of Game of Thrones. Soon, she’ll start working on X-Men Supernova. And then, not such a big surprise, she’ll start filming for GoT Season 8.

Sophie Turner Busy With X-Men Supernova, Etc.

The GoT actress is certainly busy with a lot of things. She’ll be doing a couple of movies aside from X-Men Supernova, so yeah, she’s one in-demand gal. No other actors have commented on the filming for the next X-Men movie, so we’re glad to hear this little tidbit from Turner.

Her role as the young Jean Grey was widely accepted in the X-Men Apocalypse movie. She instantly became a fan favorite, so she’s returning as the mutant and powerful Jean Grey for Supernova. This was one of the first times Turner confirmed her connection with the film.

As we all know, there’s a lot of changes in store for the X-Men movie franchise. Hugh Jackman will officially hang up his claws after the latest Wolverine movie, Logan. For years, he has been that glue that held all these movies together. So, some major changes and “evolutions” will surely happen in the future.

What We Know About X-Men Supernova

20th Century Fox has remained mum about when X-Men Supernova will be released. There have been several dates leaked, including March 2, 2018, Nov. 2, 2018, and Feb. 14, 2019, but the production team has maintained their silence about it.

For now, what we can expect is that Turner will play a big role in Supernova. After all, it is believed that Jean Grey will be developing more powers than all the other mutants. And since Turner has become a household name, who knows how big her role is going to be for this film?

X-Men Supernova will have a very 90s feel to it and it should remain as loyal to the comic book series as possible. Its main story arc will be Jean Grey’s Dark Phoenix Arc, which was previously teased in Apocalypse. Jean Grey’s “power beyond all comprehension” will supposedly corrupt her “absolutely.” According to news reports, X-Men Supernova will start filming in Montreal from June 15 this year.
