Will Ferrell Movie — Will Ferrell is taking his comedy stints to a new level with an upcoming flick about eSports underway. Known to poke fun at virtually anything, Ferrell is set to star in a new movie. It will be produced by Legendary, Mosaic, and Gary Sanchez Productions.

While the movie has yet to be named, the production team is slowly taking shape. According to a report from ESPN, Michael Kvamme and Jordan Dunn are set to pen the script of the new film. Ferrell will star as a member of a professional eSports team. In the film, he is “an anomaly in a sport” where players usually retire in their 20s due to slowing eye-hand coordination.

Moreover, the same source notes that professional gaming teams Fnatic and Evil Geniuses will be seen in the film, too. Evil Geniuses garnered popularity by consistently being included in DoTA 2‘s The International tournament series. Fnatic, on the other hand, fielded several top-tier squads in DoTA 2, Counter Strike: Global Offensive, and League of Legends.

Today, the eSports scene continues to garner much attention. Professional players, as young as 15, can earn millions of dollars through prize money, streaming, and endorsements. Just recently, the 2016 prize pool for DoTA 2‘s The International 2016 was over $20 million. In fact, last year’s League of Legends had more viewers than the World Series or the NBA finals, a report from Polygon reveals.

Will Ferrell eSports movie not too different from past works?

Not far from Ferrell’s previous films like Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, the upcoming comedy will showcase his funnily sharp quips and will border on eye-roll-inducing one-liners. Ferrell is also currently working on the Sony comedy Holmes and Watson alongside John C. Reilly.
