Tom Cruise’s The Mummy To Be Creepier Than The Original

Tom Cruise’s latest caper, The Mummy, has released its trailer and some photos and it sure is creepier than the original. That’s another mission accomplished for the actor who seemed not to age after all these years.

Tom Cruise in The Mummy reboot

Tom Cruise will play the lead character, Nick Morton, in the reboot version of The Mummy which originally starred Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz. Here, he will deal with Ahmamet, an ancient evil and powerful mummy who was once a princess, who will be played by Sofia Boutella.

The 15-second trailer showed the mummy’s crypt being hauled up from underground. Then, in another scene, Cruise can be seen running away from the mummy as it declared the dominance of gods and monsters.

The actor seemed excited about the film as he tweeted about it. The Mummy reboot also stars Russel Crowe as Dr. Jekyll, Annabelle Wallis from X-Men: First Class, and Jake Johnson from Jurassic World. Alex Kurtzman directs the movie’s reboot.

A hundred times creepier?

Tom Cruise’s The Mummy is much creepier and more powerful than Fraser’s on five different levels. First of all, this mummy has an alien feel to it. Even the sarcophagus’ face looks like the alien in Independence Day. Looking at it in the teaser trailer will give you nightmares.

Another scary feature of Ahmamet is her golden-colored eyes which suddenly have double irises when one stares at it. One can’t help but wonder whether she has an x-ray vision because of that although it looks like it’s more of a double vision.

The short trailer showed how the mummy unleashed her power and as she did, buildings around her shook and fell down. Arnold Vosloo’s mummy is no match for Ahmamet if ever their paths crossed. No wonder Cruise cannot do anything other than his all-familiar action response – run for his life while everything explodes behind him!

If the action does not impress you, the music will. It sounds hauntingly eerie adding more scare elements to the movie. You can’t help but jump from your seats every time the music played in sync with the scenes. Kudos to Tom Cruise and his team for making what will be another undeniable hit at the box office.

The Mummy will be released on June 9, 2017.
