Oh Yes, There’s An Iron Man 4, Robert Downey Jr. Said

Can we finally breathe a sigh of relief that Robert Downey Jr. will reprise his role in Iron Man 4? Still no? Aaawww shucks…

Fans have been eagerly awaiting for any news about Iron Man 4 and whether or now Downey’s going to play Tony Stark for the nth time. Downey was recently on The Ellen Show to talk about the release of the fourth Iron Man installment in 2020. He failed to confirm, though, if he’ll be the one to play it.

Iron Man 4 Is Impossible Without Robert Downey Jr.

Can you imagine Iron Man 4 without Downey? He played Tony Stark so perfectly. There’s no one more perfect for the role than he is.

Still, rumors are rife that RiRi Williams will be the one to play the Stark role in the 2020 fourth installment of the franchise. We don’t think that’s going to be great for Marvel. Whatever problems Downey has with his schedule, couldn’t we wait for him?

Marvel Studio planned out last year the Marvel movies for its Phase Three. Iron Man 4 was curiously not included in the plan, leaving many to wonder if they’ll ever see another solo Marvel movie with Downey in it. Downey, of course, will play the Stark role in 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War.

The reason for Downey’s absence from Iron Man 4 might be because of Sherlock Holmes 3. Apparently, the actor needs to play the Sherlock role again, so his schedule will not permit him to do Iron Man.

As of now, the producers are in the process of preparing for the filming of Iron Man 4, which means that auditions will also begin momentarily. Some actors have already undergone workshops for Iron Man, so they can flawlessly work with the characters in the movie.

Rumors Surrounding Iron Man 4

Right now, Downey is busy filming in Atlanta for Avengers: Infinity War, as well as the role of a mentor in Spider-Man Homecoming. He also hinted that he may have enough time to reprise his role as Tony Stark in Iron Man 4, but we cannot know for sure until a contract has been signed.

Downey’s contract with Marvel ended with Iron Man 3, but he signed a new deal with the company in June 2013 to bring him back for Avengers: Age of Ultron and Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 and Part 2. He also reprised his role in Captain America: Civil War.

Hopefully, we’ll get to see Downey in Iron Man 4. After all, what kind of Tony Stark would it be if it’s not going to be played by Downey?
