Lindsay Lohan wrote a treatment for Mean Girls 2. And she has been hoping since 2014 that a revival of the movie will happen soon. But what does the original cast and writer think about Lohan’s plan?
We’re trying to forget that there was really a Mean Girls 2 made by a completely different cast. The original Mean Girls was iconic because it was a cultural phenomenon at that time. Who can ever forget Rachel McAdams’ Regina George and Lohan’s Cady Heron?
Original cast doesn’t want anything to do with Mean Girls 2
It’s sad to think that we have to see Lohan result to this: writing a treatment and script for Mean Girls 2 when the rest of the original cast doesn’t want to have anything to do with it. Since Mean Girls 2, Lohan’s career and personal life have spiraled out of control. After being in rehab multiple times and acting unprofessionally on the sets of her shows, it’s no surprise that she only makes headlines now when she’s doing something scandalous.
According to Heat, a source said that McAdams wants Lohan to stop making Mean Girls 2 happen. Although she’s grateful for what the movie did with her career, she’s over those genres now and wants to focus on more award-winning movies. McAdams wants to be taken seriously as an actress, especially after being nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the Academy Awards last year for Spotlight.
Even Amanda Seyfried (Karen Smith) isn’t keen to reprise her role as a mean girl. She has appeared in critically-acclaimed movies such as Les Miserables, Mama Mia, and A Million Ways To Die In The West, among others. Even Tina Fey (Mrs. Norbury), who’s also the movie’s writer, will not be happy with Lohan’s idea, sources said.
What’s up with Lindsay?
While the rest of the original cast members of Mean Girls are busy with their professional lives, Lohan had a turbulent 2016 when she started dating Egor Tarabasov. The relationship quickly unraveled in August after a very publicized fight in Mykonos, Greece.
Over the holidays, Lohan doesn’t seem to have Mean Girls 2 in mind because she’s been hanging out a lot with the Italian reality star Tommaso Zorzi.
