Golden Globes Nominations 2017: The Likely And The Unlikely

Hours away from Golden Globes nominations 2017, a conjecture into who might make the final cut.

Over the recent years, the prestigious award has a significance in its own standards. While the Academy Award is top of the line, Golden Globes is not far behind. The 74th installment of the prestigious awards is due to take place in a few weeks. Case in point, here is an abstract idea of what Golden Globes nominations 2017 might look like.

Golden Globes Nominations 2017: Predictions

Hollywood Reporter has an exclusive take on the contenders this year from the members of the selection committee. Furthermore, this information is merely their opinion and the final cut might contradict too. With respect to the prominence, it’s best to start with the best picture (drama). Turns out, it begins to get tricky right away!

Barry Jenkins’ Moonlight and Kenneth Lonergan’s Manchester by the Sea are the front runners in the above category. Don’t worry about the Fences, though! Critics didn’t take a liking towards it apparently. Mel Gibson’s Hacksaw Ridge and Lion are the contenders too. Not to mention, Arrival and Silence are convincing inclusions.

La La Land is second-to-none in the musical/comedy category and the fellow nominations stand slight to no chance. Under the circumstances, best actor (drama) is more or less a robust list. Denzel Washington and Tom Hanks are the favorites for Fences and Sully respectively. Important to remember that other nominations like Casey Affleck, Andrew Garfield and Jake Gyllenhaal stand a good chance too.

Other Categories

Best actor in musical/comedy is all in favor of Ryan Gosling, along with the likes of Hugh Grant and Warren Beatty. In addition to that, there are Robert De Niro and Ryan Reynolds for The Comedian and Deadpool respectively. Natalie Portman, Amy Adams and Taraji P. Henson are in line for the best actress in drama. Natalie’s impeccable performance in Jackie is working wonders for her, of course.

Emma Stone, Kate Beckinsale and Annette Bening are in the race for the comedy/musical best actress award. Best supporting actor is a tight race this time around. Dev Patel and Mahershala Ali are the leading figures along with a plethora of actors. Best supporting actress award is a narrower competition, however.

Nicole Kidman, Viola Davis and Naomie Harris are the actresses with exemplary performances and likely nominations. Golden Globes nominations 2017 has a fine list of directors for the best director award. This category, however, includes the directors of the movies from other categories itself. This should sum it up for now.
