Fast & Furious 8 fans can’t wait for the movie’s theatrical release on Friday, April 14. Analysts say the star-studded movie will break box-office records once again. Do you think the Vin Diesel movie can defeat its previous record?
Will Fast & Furious 8 Be A Record-Breaking Hit?
Fast & Furious 8 will debut in cinemas on April 14. There are speculations that the movie will gross a record-breaking $152.6 million for this weekend only. MovieWeb reports that if FF8 surpasses this, it will break the all-time April opening weekend of $147.1 million. This record actually set by the franchise’s seventh movie.
Meanwhile, to add excitement to moviegoers, Rotten Tomatoes has already given their rating to this Vin Diesel movie. The outlet notes that it’s a whopping 79%. According to the source, it is the same rating the review aggregator gave to the Fast & Furious 7 movie when it premiered in 2015.
On the other hand, The Los Angeles Times reports that BoxOffice.com Analyst Shawn Robbins notes that Fast & Furious 8 will not be as strong as FF7, simply because the latter was sort of a tribute movie to the late Paul Walker. He reasoned that the widespread curiosity about the tragedy and the outpouring support propelled the film to become a box-office hit. However, Robbins believe its unfair to compare Fast & Furious 8‘s success to the franchise’s seventh movie.

FF8’s Worldwide Premiere Expected To Gross $280 Million
While the domestic release may just earn the movie more or less $100 million, the outlet notes that its worldwide premiere may gross to about $280 million or more. According to the source, Fast & Furious 7 grossed $245 million in foreign countries, excluding China. The movie collected $390 million ticket sales in the East Asian country alone.
Meanwhile, the outlet notes that the result of Fast & Furious: The Fate of the Furious in the box-office will determine whether the Fast & Furious franchise still has that appeal to their audience. The publication reports that Universal plans to add two more movies to the franchise. They intend to release FF9 and FF10 in 2019 and 2021, respectively.
The initial report notes that Fast & Furious 8: The Fate of the Furious features Dom (Vin Diesel) and Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) enjoying their honeymoon and the rest of the crew enjoying a rather normal life. However, things will take a different turn when Charlize Theron’s character “seduces” Dom to return to the world of crime. Moviegoers will not only enjoy the car chases but also the different locations of the movie. The Fast & Furious 8 will premiere in the US on April 14.
