Charlize Theron returns to the big screen as a “femme-fatale master spy” in the movie, Atomic Blonde. This spy action thriller film is directed by John Wick’s David Leitch. So, what does Theron has in store for her fans?
Charlize Theron Stars In Atomic Blonde
Atomic Blonde releases its first photos of Charlize Theron in character as Lorraine Broughton. Entertainment Weekly reports that one image shows a sultry Theron with a cigarette on one hand in what seemed like a bar, eyeing someone from afar.
Another photo shows the actress dressed in all black accompanied by her co-star, James McAvoy who wore a fur coat, knitted top and bell bottom jeans. The outlet noted that while the movie’s theatrical release is in July, the movie will debut at the SXSW this weekend.
Collider reported that Theron’s character, Lorraine, is “a top-level spy for MI6, who is dispatched to Berlin to take down a ruthless espionage ring that has just killed an undercover agent for reasons unknown.” Meanwhile, the latter report noted that the David Leitch movie is an adaptation of the graphic novel, The Coldest City.

David Leitch Praises Theron’s Performance
The publication reported that Theron bought the rights to the story a few years ago because she has not seen Lorraine’s character being portrayed. The Aeon Flux actress said, “We made her strong and feisty. She’s cheeky. These were all things I responded to.” Doing this kind of film means the lead star has to undergo rigorous training and the actress admits that it was not easy.
“Let’s be honest, I got my ass handed to me every day. I cracked through two of my teeth in the back of my mouth from clenching so much that I had to have massive dental surgery right before we left for Budapest to shoot the film,” the actress revealed.
The initial report noted that Theron trained, with Leitch and his team of fighters, for four to five hours a day for three months. Meanwhile, the movie’s director does not have anything to say but high praises for the actress. “She’s extraordinary,” said Leitch.
The director continued and said, “It’s refreshing to find an actor who can do these long, long takes, memorize the choreography, maintain the character, and deliver a performance.”
