Benedict Cumberbatch Clears Issue About Doctor Strange’s Role In Avengers Infinity War

Some time ago, there were rumors that a stand-in will film all of Doctor Strange’s scenes in Avengers Infinity War. Benedict Cumberbatch, who played Doctor Strange in the movie of the same name, was apparently too busy. He is currently working on The Current War.

News reports said that Cumberbatch will just be digitally entered into the scenes once he has the time to work on the reshoots. This was such a disappointment to fans because it wouldn’t be the same as having the Sherlock actor on the set. Thankfully, Cumberbatch cleared all of these rumors now.

Avengers Infinity War Will Certainly Have Doctor Strange

Avengers Infinity War is currently shooting in Atlanta. Cumberbatch said he would definitely be there to shoot some scenes for Doctor Strange. Still, it sounded like he was kinda open to him having a stand-in or him being digitally added.

He said it was an exaggeration for fans to think he wouldn’t have the time to film his own scenes for the film. There’s a lot that can be done in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, whether it’s “hiding a pregnancy or having someone there who’s on the other side of the world.” The actor believes there’s so much the production can do without him.

You’d think that fans would focus on the other characters than Cumberbatch since this is a star-studded casting. Apparently, the actor’s stints as Sherlock and Doctor Strange have so enamored the fans to Cumberbatch. They want to make sure he’s available for Avengers Infinity War.

Or maybe, it’s the idea that Doctor Strange played such an important role in the Infinity Gauntlet comic book. Cumberbatch said he already read the script “and it’s very, very good fun.” He refused to divulge any information about the plot, though.

Packed With Stars

Avengers Infinity War is intended to be the sequel to 2012’s The Avengers and 2015’s Avengers Age of Ultron. It will be the 19th film installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and will be directed by Anthony and Joe Russo.

The film has an ensemble cast: Robert Downey Jr., Josh Brolin, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston, Chris Evans, and Chris Hemsworth. Jeremy Renner, Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Olsen, Sebastian Stan, Benedict Cumberbatch, Paul Bettany, and Samuel L. Jackson are joining the cast, too.

It also includes Cobie Smulders, Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel, Dave Bautista, Pom Klementieff, Scarlett Johansson, Benicio del Toro, and Tom Holland.

It is believed that Avengers Infinity War will see the Avengers join forces with the Guardians of the Galaxy to confront the space-travelling mutant, Thanos.
