If you think Captain America: Civil War is big, just wait until you lay your eyes on Avengers Infinity War. What could be the biggest movie in the history of Hollywood will have a villain for a main character. Wait… what?!
You heard that right. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said that Thanos, who had an uninteresting and underdeveloped post-credits and mid-credits appearances, will be the central theme of Infinity War. How interesting would it be to watch a movie from the perspective of a villain?
Avengers Infinity War Will Be Unlike Any Marvel Films
There are only three movies left before Avengers Infinity War. This means that Marvel Studios will only have about a year and a half to prepare Thanos for the biggest crossover in MCU to date. The Infinity War will be cut into two parts—one to be shown in 2018 and the next one will be in 2019.
The Infinity War won’t be a “beat ‘em up” film like The Avengers and the Avengers: Age of Ultron. Feige said this new film will be a “departure” from the Avengers franchise, and Thanos will finally get his due.
Joe Russo, one of Infinity War’s directors, explained that the goal is to be ambitious as they possibly can be. It’s going to be a “multi-perspective” film, where the points of view will be moving around through different characters.
As a character, Thanos (played by Josh Brolin) made cameo appearances in Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers: Age of Ultron. He has been in pursuit of the Infinity Stones that appeared in a number of Marvel Studios films. The only Infinity Stone unaccounted for is the Soul Stone.
What We Know So Far About Avengers Infinity War
Everyone is basically coming back for Infinity War. Anthony and Joe Russo of Winter Soldier and Civil War are coming back as directors. They will work again with writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.
Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn will also take part. It is still not sure on what capacity Gunn will be in the movie.
The cast is no small matter, mind you. The directors already confirmed Brolin, Chris Hemsworth (Thor), and Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch). It also looks like rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy cast, including Bradley Cooper’s Rocket Raccoon, Gamora actress Zoe Saldana, Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), and Sebastian Stan will be part of this movie.
Fans will see massive stars in the Avengers Infinity War: Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange), Benedict Wong (Wong), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Robert Downey Jr (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Mark Ruffalo (the Hulk), Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther), Karen Gillan (Nebula), and Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury).
