Avatar 2 Production To Start Soon: Cast, Release Date Revealed
The Independent reports how Cameron and his team have been hard at work for Avatar‘s upcoming sequels. Avatar 2 is set to bring back Jake (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) and “their battle with humans.”
“The thing is, my focus isn’t on Avatar 2. My focus is on Avatar 2, 3, 4, and 5 equally,” he said. Cameron describes the creative process being “developed equally” as well.
“I’m now starting the process of active prep. I’ll be working with the actors in the capture volume in August, so I’m booked in production every day between now and then,” he further explained.
Interestingly, the next installments were reportedly being worked on ever since the first film was released. There have been schedule rearrangements but 20th Century Fox was confident to reveal that an untitled James Cameron project has been slated for a December 2018 release.
Avatar came out around Christmas in 2009, so many speculate that this unnamed project could be Avatar 2. Many are now led to believe that the sequel will hit theaters in December 2018.

Avatar 2 Director James Cameron Speaks Up About Trump
In an exclusive interview with The Daily Beast, the renowned filmmaker opened up how his films relate to the current US administration. Fans remember how Avatar focused on the preservation of nature, so Cameron spoke up about Trump’s recent policies.
“A lot of my work that’s not specifically on the Avatar films, my activism, around climate, is number one. Years ago, we spotted the iceberg ahead of us and we called out the order to turn, and we’ve been slowly trying to turn this big-ass ship to not hit the iceberg. Then Trump grabbed the tiller and just plunged it right back at the center of the iceberg,” he said.
Cameron further notes how he’s “worried” with the current administration’s policies surrounding climate change.
He added, “I think we’re the biggest freakin’ idiot civilization in history right now, and they’ll probably be talking about us 4,000 years from now scratching their heads like they talk about Atlantis. Who are those guys? What did they do to piss off the gods so much that they’re buried under a hundred feet of mud right now?”
