Movie and TV series trailers had their moments in the Super Bowl 2017. Cutting across genre lines were the trailers of mutants and pirate flicks!
Studios do know how to make the best out of a situation, don’t they? A commercial space in a big game is all it takes to promote. In that vein, Super Bowl 2017 was no exception at all. From Pirates of the Caribbean to the Stranger Things, many movies had an exclusive Super Bowl spot. Besides, some of these are the maiden trailers, while some are extended version of the earlier trailers. Needless to say, an event as popular as Super Bowl is indeed business as usual for the Hollywood’s best.
Super Bowl 2017: Movie Trailers
Vox has a concise and a collective list of all the Super Bowl movie spot that featured during the event. Regency Enterprises’ upcoming mystery/drama, A Cure For Wellness, had an insane 40-second teaser. Glum as it comes, outrageous as it gets.
Paramount’s controversial sci-fi starring Scarlett Johansson, Ghost in the Shell, had an action-packed teaser. Also, it has a ‘they did not save her life, they stole it’ line that is so befitting.
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy 2 was a quaint 1-minute spot that was special in its own right. The guardians are back, indeed. Resolute as ever.
Keanu Reeves’ John Wick chapter 2 release is around the corner. Additionally, the movie has high stakes due to its predecessor’s reception. The Super Bowl spot was nothing short of its former trailers – action and more action!
Ryan Reynolds and Jake Gyllenhaal starrer, Life, has a mind-blowing plot apart from two of the finest actors. A Super Bowl spot was all it took to make it highly anticipating, not to mention.
Marvel’s Logan, on the other hand, had a spot worthy of all the hype it’s garnering lately. Over-the-hill Hugh Jackman and his state-of-the-art mission, at its pinnacle.
Didn’t think the makers of The Fate of the Furious would miss out on an opportunity to promote, did you? A rather alluring teaser covering the key elements and players was a job well done, of course.
Transformers: The Last Knight was another of Paramount’s works to feature in the big event. Nothing aberrant here, though. Same old, same old!
The takeaway from the movie spot category was Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell no Tales teaser. Reminiscent of the old days, dark and quaintly satisfying teaser was hands-down the best yet.
Paramount again – Baywatch teaser. You know the drill – Beach and bikini!
Super Bowl 2017: TV Spot
Netflix’s Stranger Things had a spooky maiden trailer for the second season. Not only does it speak of the mystery, but also the Halloween release date.
The Walking Dead’s playful ‘football season is over’ and the sport connection with ‘Lucille’ was awesomeness at its apex.
An obscure and poignant teaser of Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale caught people off-guard, one could argue.
In conclusion, it’s safe to say that Hollywood and Super Bowl aren’t mutually exclusive.
