Poldark fans may still be a tad shell-shocked since the favorite Sunday night show aired its final episode for series 2. But they might be happy to know that even if series 3 is still far away, there is already some juicy information to be had about the show’s next run.
The Cornwall-based series starring dashing Aidan Turner and fiery Eleanor Tomlinson gave a sneak-peek to loyal fans on series 3 at the end of the finale. But CarterMatt.com said that there is still no news as to when the exact airing of the show’s next run will be. As to whether BBC One will drop more teasers is also questionable.
But there is a talk that the network will possibly air the period drama in the spring of 2017 instead of autumn. The move would allow it to bask in its popularity, rather than fight with ITV’s Victoria for viewership. If this holds true, then keen viewers might see some footage soon enough.
However, if Poldark keeps to its original airing season, then fans will have a long and agonizing wait. Nevertheless, fans will have something to hold on to as the series 2 finale showed.
There were plenty of anxious faces in the teaser that The Sun shared. And instead of the usual forlorn expression, Demelza had on an awed look as she entered a mansion with her husband, Ross Poldark, and Caroline Penvenen.
The teaser also showed a heavily pregnant Elizabeth, now wife to George Warleggan, Ross’ long-time enemy. Fans have been speculating on the paternity of the child, but chances are the dark-haired, broody protagonist of the show is it.
If that revelation happens, then the turmoil in series 3 would be hefty. It will surely throw a wrench into Ross and Demelza’s relationship. Plus, it is doubtful George Warleggan will be happy to raise his archenemy’s child.
Add to that the entry of Hugh Armitage, played by Josh Whitehouse. As the British news site said, his arrival could mean more relationship problems for Ross and Demelza.
So while waiting for the next series, fans can rest assured that Poldark will come back with saucier stories and more hair-pulling conflicts.
