Outlander Season 3: Premiere Date, Cast, Everything To Know About Return

Outlander season 3 has finally released more details of when it’ll air but apparently, it’s not going to be for another few months. The show is scheduled to premiere in September but as for the exact date, nothing has been confirmed as of the moment.

This seems like the latest the show is set to air. Season 1 premiered in August 2014 while Season 2 was early as it premiered in April 2016. Fans will have to wait a little longer for the third one but for the time being, read on below to see what’s in store for the show on its third season.

Outlander Season 3: What’s It All About

The challenges that Claire is going to face will be the center of Outlander season 3. It starts in 1948 and shows her troubled marriage with Frank as she returns with Jamie’s child. Meanwhile, in the eighteenth century, Jamie tries to give life one more chance as he deals with Claire’s departure as well as the aftermath of the Battle of Culloden.

The official release places “adversity, mystery and adventure” as the focal point of the series and what awaits Claire and Jamie. Do they ultimately find each other again? And when they do, will they be the same people that met each other years ago? We’ll have to wait till September to find out.

The third season of Outlander will have 13 episodes. Locations included in the show are Scotland and South Africa. According to TVLine, South Africa will serve as the stand in shots for the Caribbean events that are mentioned in Voyager, the third series in Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander novel. The last five episodes will be shot here.

Sam Heughan, who stars as Jamie, joked that they don’t know what sunshine is having filmed for so long in Scotland. Well, they’ll finally get to have a taste of that in South Africa.

So many stars were added to the cast lineup this season 3 as provided by TVLine. These include:

Laoghaire’s daughter Marsali played by Lauren Lyle
Mr. Willoughby played by Gary Young
Borgia as adult Fergus played by César Domboy
Capt. Thomas Leonard played by Charlie Hiett
Young Ian as Claire’s nephew played by John Bell
Joe Abernathy as Claire’s friend played by Wil Johnson
