Oscars 2017 Winners: Moonlight Not La La Land Wins Best Picture

The Oscars 2017 just ended and most of the Hollywood stars are probably celebrating at the after parties right now. The last award giving body of the year recognized the cream of the crop. However, an unexpected turn of events led to a very eventful evening. A first for the Oscar’s history. Here’s the list of winners of the recently concluded 89th Academy Awards.

Oscars 2017 News

The Oscars 2017 has finally revealed their choices and most of the winners of the acting roles were what most reports predicted. ABC News reports that the first award of the evening went to Moonlight’s Mahershala Ali for the best supporting actor category.

The outlet notes that Ali thanked his wife in his speech saying she is “such a soldier through the process.” The actor’s wife recently gave birth the couple’s daughter just four days ago. Ali is the first Muslim actor to win an Oscar award.

Meanwhile, another notable winner is Viola Davis. The actress took home the Best Supporting Actress for the movie, Fences. Again, the How To Get Away With Murder star delivered an outstanding speech. “I became an artist and thank God I did because we are the only profession that celebrates what it means to live a life.”

The main highlight of the Oscars was the announcement of who won the Best Picture category. Viewers saw the whole crew of La La Land went up the stage. However, the Miss Universe trend seemed to have caught up the Oscars too because the real winner of the Best Picture category is Moonlight.
