Millennial Career Tips: Being Pretty Cannot Get You Higher Salary, Study Finds

As the old proverb goes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. So does that mean if you’re beautiful, that comes as a bonus point while you’re at the office? According to a recent case study, it’s not. In fact, beauty doesn’t have anything to do with it at all. A recent study showed that beauty doesn’t actually get you a higher paycheck as what many believe to be, crushing millennial career tips that say it does.

So what actually matters? You’ll be surprised to know that the answer is very simple.

Millennial Career Tips: Do Looks Matter?

Millennial career tips say you should dress better, invest in makeup or generally, keep yourself attractive. However, the study entitled Journal of Business and Psychology delved into the relation between attractiveness and income and showed a different result.

20, 745 participants took part in this study and analyzed a worker’s life between 16 to 29 years old. The results? Though attractive people earn more money than the less attractive ones, the very unattractive ones make even more than the two.

In a simpler explanation, it doesn’t really matter. Because looks don’t have anything to do with how much you earn.

What Actually Counts

The study focused more on the personality, health and intelligence of a person. These are the three things that counted for one to get paid more.

Both attractive and unattractive people earn higher salaries because they’re sociable, extroverted and smart. Their personalities also matter a lot as well as being healthy.

But in actuality, did we really need this study to prove that beauty isn’t everything? It should have been basic knowledge that personalities matter more than physical attractiveness. Aside from that, it’s what you think of yourself that’s also important. If you think of yourself as beautiful inside and out, then nothing else matters.

It’s important not to let anything, not even your salary, dictate what you want to wear or how you want to look when going to work. It’s fun dressing up for yourself and it’s never a crime to want to look good.

It’s true that salary comes from how well you do your job and how you interact with others. But that doesn’t come without an ounce of self confidence. So if you’re looking for real millennial career tips, it’s to just go ahead and dress up, put on makeup and feel attractive. Because what matter is what you think of yourself. Everything else follows.
