Growing Up Beautiful: How To Be ‘Brains And Brawn’ Too

Many female figures in today’s society have broken barriers in being amazing. Women like Rosa Parks, Oprah Winfrey, Queen Elizabeth, and Anna Wintour, are just some of the world’s greatest ladies whose contributions will go down history. Growing up, every girl dreams of being the best they can be. So if you feel that it’s impossible, think again! Read on so you can find some tips how you can be the best version of yourself.

Growing Up Beautiful: How To Be Brains And Brawn

Society has stigmatized women too much at one point, saying that she can only be smart or beautiful. This is the dichotomy children grew up with, the two categories we are told we may aspire to. And it’s disturbing how the trend seems to have only accelerated in modern times. Young girls have been led to believe they need to dedicate all their time to perfecting only but one aspect in their lives. Whether its stellar grades, amazing sports skills, or even just focusing on being pretty, they knew they could only choose one.

This wrong way of thinking has set unhealthy boundaries and have made young ladies believe they can excel only at one thing. But do not believe the naysayers! A long list of amazing women were blurred the boundaries, because truthfully, the possibilities are endless.

Rosa Parks, who lost her job being a seamstress, helped initiate the civil rights movement in the United States. Over time, she became a nationally recognized symbol of dignity and strength in the struggle to end entrenched racial segregation.

Growing Up Beautiful: Don’t Be Afraid Of Change

Vogue recently published an article about Lily Cole, a model-turned-actress-turned-entrepreneur. Cole made headlines when she changed careers.

From debuting runways, Cole shifted her focus on creating an app about finance. Remembering how this new idea started, she said, “My friend and I were talking about the economy and why is it when it falters, society immediately falls apart? Through that conversation we thought, ‘wouldn’t it be interesting if there was a website or technical platform that tried to show the possibilities of how you could do things for one another without money being necessary as a medium’. It just felt like quite a simple, obvious idea.”

Had she stayed in the world of modelling, the amazing app wouldn’t have been created. Certainly, there have been amazing feats done by women in history to help bring society to where it is today. These women should inspire us to strive more in our lives, pushing the brawny among us to pick up a book and the brainy to get out in the field.
