Engagement on social media is a big deal for brands these days. It is not surprising to see that big brands and lesser known ones are both trying to woo the market represented in the online field. The latest brand to make an entry into the social media sphere is Céline.
Céline is a popular French ready-to-wear and leather luxury goods brand that has been around since 1996. The brand chose Instagram as their platform for promotion. The label is set to showcase their A/W17 collection on March 5.
Céline Instagram Debut Gathers Much Followers
As soon as Céline debuted on Instagram, it was successful in bringing 582,000 followers. The strength of a brand is often reflected in the “likes” and “followers” that it garners in its online presence. It is also could be a move by the minds behind the brand in increasing their social presence before the Paris Fashion Week.
Creative director Phoebe Philo did a flip flop on his earlier statement when he said that he wouldn’t enter the social media space. His reasoning was that the brand’s absence in the space will give ‘more value’ to what they do. However, the brand seems to have realized that staying relevant to the times is the need of the hour. It also plans to launch an e-commerce site soon, reports Harpers Bazaar.
Most comments on their first post on Instagram (seen above) were patrons who were waiting for them to debut on the platform. One comment reads, “about time they get (an) ig (Instagram)” while the other reads, “Long overdue. Welcome to Instagram”.
