Steve Harvey, You Aren’t Funny When You Are Racist

Steve Harvey was just beginning to fade off from our minds of people post the Miss Universe announcement goof up. But one of his recent comments on the show has brought him back in headlines again. Harvey is guilty of passing some very racist comments on his show.

The Steve Harvey Show is one of the most popular shows on television. While the host is seen helping out many on the show with good advice, this time he got it all wrong. The author of Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Man started his comments by pulling up a book cover “How to Date a White Woman: a Practical Guide for Asian Men.”

Steve Harvey: Are Racist Jokes Funny At All?

Steve Harvey went on to talk about the book cover and then imitated a white woman’s response to it. He asked the imaginary white woman, “Excuse me, do you like Asian men”. A response came back as the white woman voiced by Harvey himself saying “No Thank You”!

The ordeal did not end there- he continued mocking Asian men’s dating abilities by checking if Black Women would date Asian men. “Same thing, it’s the same thing” said Harvey, as reported by Fox News.

The Asian Stereotype Needs to Vanish

In a world that is suffering from stereotypical judgments, can’t celebrities like Steve Harvey find things that are actually funny without demeaning another race? It did not even end there- the host of the show went on to talk about Chinese food.

Well, so original- every time you talk about Asians, you have to talk about rice and Chinese right? Harvey imitates a black woman response saying, “I don’t even eat Chinese food boy, It don’t stay with you no time. I don’t eat what I can’t pronounce.”

Not many were amused by what Steve Harvey said. A lot of Twitter users were tweeting about how irresponsible it is for the talk show host to bring down a race like that. Some were clearly calling these comments by Harvey as ‘completely ignorant’ and ‘irresponsible.
