Bella Hadid finally talked about Selena Gomez and The Weeknd in an interview with Teen Vogue. Hadid said that the breakup with the I Can’t Feel My Face singer was hard. “It’ll be hard for a while. Love hurts, but you have to pull through.”
As an outsider, we might think that the supermodel is handling everything well. She has always maintained a stoic face even amid the very public breakup from The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye. In fact, she managed to maintain her composure when she walked the Victoria’s Secret runway in November, just weeks after their breakup.
Selena Gomez And The Weeknd Are Very Public About Their Romance
It is unclear if Hadid gave the interview with Teen Vogue before Selena Gomez and The Weeknd romance got out in the media. Either way, she remained very respectful and loving of The Weeknd when she talked about him.
Hadid said that her November breakup with the singer is his first breakup (or the second, if you count her horse). Bella, like sister Gigi Hadid, is an accomplished equestrian. The horse she was referring to is named Lego, who came into her life way before The Weeknd did.
Lego was her favorite competition horse, describing him as “my main, my ride or die.” Her family, however, needed to sell him after Hadid was diagnosed with Lyme disease, just like her mother, Yolanda did. Lyme disease is an infection caused by a tick bite that although is treatable, can trigger severe health consequences.
The 20-year-old model has always been open about her battle with Lyme disease. So, yes, Hadid knows a thing or two about remaining strong amid the problems that plague her.
Bella And The Weeknd Remain Friends
Hadid became an idol of girls around the world when she rocked her Victoria’s Secret lingerie on stage while The Weeknd is performing. This came just mere weeks after she and the singer broke up. Ah, if only all brokenhearted girls can look as good as Hadid post-breakup.
Back then, the model said there was no awkwardness with The Weeknd. She considers him her bestfriend, “and I am excited because I am walking during his performance.” The I Feel It Coming singer actually sent Hadid a token of his affection to her hotel room in Paris to wish her luck before the big show.
They purportedly remained friendly since then. What’s not clear, though, is how Hadid now feels that Selena Gomez and The Weeknd are out in the open. Gomez is her friend through Taylor Swift’s girl squad.
