Melania Trump: 5 Things You Need To Know About The New FLOTUS

While it’s easy to dismiss Melania Trump as nothing more than a blonde bimbo (she was a former model that graced many top magazine covers), it’s worth nothing that she’ll be unlike any other First Lady the US had. She’s no Michelle Obama, of course, but she can be opinionated and charming, too.

Not many people know about the new First Lady and her background. Her husband has become so controversial that she’s often left outside the spotlight while President Trump basks in the glamor and attention.

Melania Trump speaks five languages

The fact that Melania Trump can speak five languages—Slovene, English, French, German, and Serbian—will come in handy during White House functions. She made a few appearances and speeches during her husband’s presidential campaign, but what we noticed was her thick accent.

Maybe this is the reason why she doesn’t want giving interviews too much? Seeing as President Trump has very strong anti-immigration policies, having an immigrant for a wife may cause a backlash.

Melania Trump was raised in a communist country

Melania was born Melanija Knavs (before switching to Knauss when she was 18 years old) in the former part of Yugoslavia that later became Slovenia. She is the second First Lady after Louisa Adams to be born outside of the US, and the first to be born in a communist nation.

Melania Trump was not dirt poor

It’s so easy to judge Melania for marrying someone with President Trump’s temperament and attitude. But she wasn’t just someone who married for money. Melania was born in a middle-class family (her father runs a car and motorcycle dealerships for a state-owned vehicle manufacturer).

They lived in a modest apartment block in Sevnica, but later moved on to a two-story house. She was sent to the Secondary School of Design and Photography and studied at the University of Ljubljana for a year before dropping out.

Melania Trump initially did not want to give Trump her number

When she met the President, he was with another date. He sent his date to the bathroom and chatted with Melania, then a model who just arrived in the States. He asked for her number, but she refused to give it to him.

It turned out, Trump was the one who gave her his numbers. It’s not a business number either. He gave her all of his contact numbers.

Melania Trump is a hands-on mom to Barron Trump

As a First Lady, she’s supposed to live in the White House with her husband. However, she doesn’t want to uproot her son from a private school in Manhattan, so she opted to stay at the Trump Tower. There, Melania Trump can better take care of her son, Barron.
