A month has already passed yet Mariah Carey New Year’s Eve fiasco continues to swirl around the internet. The singer fired back in her latest interview and blamed everybody for the mishap, including herself.
One of the early newsmakers of 2017 is Maria Carey New Year’s Eve performance which was “widely acknowledged as disastrous.” News reports claim that Carey was lip-syncing her own songs at the show.
Mariah Carey Said Dick Clark Production Ignored Her Request
In Mimi’s interview with Rolling Stone, the singer initially did not want to talk about the issue. However, she gave in and reiterated her explanation that the Dick Clark production ignored her request to fix her in-ears monitor problem prior to her performance.
Carey lamented that the public may not understand the problem she encountered on the show because they are not performers. To which the singer likened her NYE dilemma with how she will never understand a person’s day job and the issues that come with it.
Meanwhile, a similar report from TVLine notes that the Dreamlover singer blames everybody for her NYE mishap. Carey recounted that fateful night and said that it was out of her control. “I’m sorry. It was a mess, and I blame everybody,” said the singer. However, Carey blames herself as well “for not leaving after rehearsal.”

Videos of Carey’s New Year’s Eve performance went viral online. The singer sang two of her hit songs, We Belong Together and Emotions. Netizens were quick to comment that the singer was not singing her songs live. Moreover, some concluded that she was lip-syncing. The said fiasco has sent her on a self-declared hiatus on both media and social media.
Carey Debuts New Single, I Don’t
The initial report notes that Carey is back entertaining the media after she debuted her new single, I Don’t. However, her NYE’s performance continues to haunt her up until this time.
Prior to this, the singer headlined news when she and her fiance, James Packer called off their engagement and she hooked up with choreographer and dancer, Bryan Tanaka. All of these updates in her relationship status were documented on her reality series, Mariah’s World that was aired on E!

The outlet notes that Mimi will be busy with her upcoming joint tour with Lionel Richie. However, she plans to continue recording singles, when she’s not on her joint tour. The singer released a new track titled I Don’t, featuring rapper YG. However, this single is not a part of Carey’s album.
