Jamie Lynn Spears’ daughter Maddie is currently recuperating from a horrific ATV accident. Thankfully, the 8-year-old youngster is doing better after she regained her consciousness earlier today. After the frightening situation, critics claimed that it was Maddie’s stepdad Jamie Watson who is to blame. Was it really Spears husband’s fault that caused all this?
Jamie Lynn Spears And Jamie Watson Slammed As Irresponsible Parents
According to a report from TMZ, Maddie was not supposed to be riding the ATV that caused her to be severely injured. Maddie avoided a ditch but she overturned, causing the vehicle to be submerged in the pond. While Maddie’s parents came to her rescue, they had trouble detaching the safety net and couldn’t get Maddie out in time. Thankfully, an ambulance arrived within minutes and the little girl was taken to the nearby hospital.
The report points out that Maddie should not have been “a driver nor a passenger” in the Polaris. The vehicle in question, the RZR 170, explicitly stated in its manual that “children under age 10” should never be allowed to operate or ride as a passenger. However, there was a qualifier: “Permit continued use only if you [the parent] determine that your child has the ability and maturity to operate safely.”
Many people slammed Jamie Watson and Jamie Lynn Spears for giving the ATV to little Maddie for her birthday. Maddie is not even close to 10, as she is only eight years old.
A Polaris rep tells the publication, “The safety of our riders is our absolute top priority.” They also sent their prayers and thoughts to the family following the horrific accident.

Maddie’s Condition After Tragic ATV Accident
USA Today reports that Maddie is now doing better as she is on the road to healing. With a statement from the family’s rep, the police reported that, “With her father, mother and stepfather by her side, Maddie regained consciousness. Doctors were able to remove the ventilator today and she is awake and talking. Maddie continues to receive oxygen and is being monitored closely but it appears that she has not suffered any neurological consequences from the accident.”
Thankfully as of today, she has regained consciousness and is alert and talking. Watson took to Instagram to thank everyone keeping their family in their thoughts.
