If your name is taken a couple of times at the Grammys, you know you have made it big! A name that was taken quite liberally this Grammys 2017 is that of Chance The Rapper. Right from the beginning of the show, it was clear that the rapper might well be the highlight of the show.

Chance The Rapper holds seven nominations in Grammys 2017. His nominations include Best Rap Album, Best New Artist, Best Rap Performance and four others. He comes in the few names that have the most amount of nominations in this year’s awards night.

Chance The Rapper Awards and Speeches

The most annoying thing for any artist as he makes his acceptance speech is the time constraint. Be it the Oscars or the Grammys, one can see the music playing and the recipient quietly asked to move out. The same was the case with Chance The Rapper who was receiving the award for the Best Artist.

As he was giving his speech the music started playing and he said, “Oh I’ma talk. Y’all can play the music if you want.” His victory speech began with him thanking God. He said, “Glory be to God. I claim this victory in the name of the Lord.”

Chance broke a few records in the Grammys 2017. This is the first time that Grammy has included artists who do not have record deals. The rapper’s Coloring Book album is a streaming only release.

Memorable Performance At The Grammys

Beyoncé’s performance with her twins was the much awaited one this time at Grammys 2017. Her performance did not disappoint one bit and the most adorable bit was watching Blue Ivy watching her mom dance and sing.

One of the most talked about performance in Grammys 2017 is that of Chance The Rapper. He brought the heavens down literally as he and a choir sang “How Great Is Our God”. It is no secret that the rapper has great faith in the Lord and did not shy away from professing the same at the Grammys stage.

A lot of publications report that the rapper brought ‘church’ to the Grammys. The performance included a mash-up of songs from Coloring Book and How Great Is Our God. He sang along with artist Kirk Franklin and a full gospel choir. Twitter was quick to applaud the rapper’s courage to bring his conviction on stage at the Grammys 2017.
