Even divas like Ciara, Beyonce, and Rihanna have to fight off stereotypes and people inciting competition between successful women. Ciara is no stranger to these as the Twitter universe lately tried to make a feud happen between her and Beyonce. They are both pregnant, and netizens want to see a “pregnancy-off.”
But Ciara is having none of it. She said she has learned to stay above the fray. Instead of taking that bait, the singer chooses to show love instead to her fellow artists.
There Is NoFeud Among Women Artists, Ciara Claims
In a recent interview with Harpers Bazaar about her career, family, and pregnancy, Ciara said she and her fellow artists mount a “unified defense.” Online trolls would never tire of trying to pit female artists against each other. But Ciara said the “unspoken word” is love.
“When you meet successful powerful women, you show each other love, because it is a tough environment.” This is such an apt attitude as we celebrate International Women’s Day now.
She isn’t exactly new to Twitter feuds. She and fellow singer Rihanna had a very public fight on Twitter in 2011. It all started when Ciara said in US show Fashion Police that Rihanna snubbed her once in a party and she was not very nice.
Rihanna responded on Twitter, asking if she somehow forgot to “tip” Ciara? The Goodies singer responded: “Trust me Rihanna you don’t want to see me on or off the stage.”
RiRi answered back: “Good luck with bookin that stage u speak of.” The two eventually realized they went too far with the word war. Rihanna was the first one to backtrack, saying that Ciara hurt her feelings with what she said on TV.
For RiRi, it was a simple retaliation on her part. Ciara responded gracefully with: “Rhi, u know its always been love since day 1! Doing shows and everything. You threw me off in that party! Apology accepted. Let’s chat in person.”
Ciara Doesn’t Want To Compete With Beyonce
Among the biggest, if not the biggest, names in the music industry is Beyonce. Ciara believes she’s just as “important and influential” as Beyonce and Rihanna.
She had as big records as the two and she also had number one songs around the world. It’s all about timing, Ciara claimed. She doesn’t see herself beneath or above Beyonce and Jay-Z.
Ciara is simply her own person. Her biggest competition is herself, she said, adding that she’s always hungry to grow.
