Ariel Winter Opens Up About Body Shaming Issue
What may be drawing more attention to Ariel Winter could also be because she was seen as a quaint little 12-year-old in Modern Family. Her transformation to a very different teen may take some time so sink in. Winter herself struggled with the transformation while filming for the hit drama show.
Winter says, “Growing up in the spotlight was quite possibly the worst for my self-esteem.”A lot of time young artists who grow up right in front of billion viewers feel the pressure of constant spotlight on them. Winter seems to be one who went through a similar ordeal.

Ariel Winter says, “When I started [‘Modern Family’], I had a completely different body than what happened overnight at 12 years old. I was stick thin, I had no chest, I had no butt — I had nothing. I was totally flat, and I was so sad about it. Then automatically, overnight, my body changed drastically. I was a D cup and had a bigger butt, and my waist was expanding. Everything was getting bigger. I automatically got this hate and judgment online” reports Fox.
Support From Modern Family Co-Star Sofia Vergara
It is heartwarming to know that Ariel Winter did not have to go through the ordeal of self-realization alone. She had co-star Sofia Vergara by her side to help her deal with the change happening in her body. Winter says, “[Sofia] could see that I was struggling a little bit with how to deal with my body, and was always trying to give me advice, like, ‘Here are some brands that would look good on our body type,’ or ‘Wear whatever you want, and feel good about yourself.”

All Ariel Winter wants is that everyone looks at her like a normal 18-year-old. She wants everyone to know she is “doing the same things that everybody” of her “age is doing.”
