Boston Celtics continue to rouse NBA trade rumors after confirming their desire to add another star player in their team. According to Parent Herald, the Celtics have been eyeing possible trades such as Jimmy Butler from Chicago Bulls and DeMarcus Cousins from Sacramento Kings. There is a lengthy list but as the new season approaches, another target appears to have caught the Celtics’ interest.
According to Parent Herald, the Celtics may be focusing on Anthony Davis from New Orleans Pelicans.
With the Pelicans off to a poor start this season, it will be no surprise if the power forward decides to part ways with his current team. ESPN Insider Jeremias Engleman said that Davis and Cousins may be a great addition to the Boston Celtics, citing that the team is the perfect destination for a new homecourt.
With the interest in Davis revealed, people began to discuss possible trade scenarios between Boston and New Orleans. The rumored proposal includes: the Celtics get Anthony Davis while the Pelicans will receive DeMarcus Cousins, Jaylen Brown, and the first round pick in Brooklyn on 2018. The Sacramento Kings will then acquire Marcus Smart, Kelly Olynyk, Quincy Pondexter and the Net’s first-round draft choice in 2017 via Boston.
Analyzing NBA Trade Rumors always calls for the usage of the ESPN NBA Trade Machine. However, the machine states that this trade rumor is not legal under the NBA Trade and and salary cap restrictions. Davis has an annual salary of $22.1 million while the “outgoing” Boston players only have a combined $11.4 million salary. Because of the salary difference, this NBA trade rumor simply became what it is–a rumor.
Despite that, Boston Celtics seem eager to get an elite player. Davis is a good player but the Celtics would have to give up three players and two first-round draft pick just to get him. Another suggested proposal involving Marcus Smart, Jaylen Brown, and Amir Johnson satisfies the trade, according to the ESPN NBA Trade Machine. This could affect the team’s depth if ever the trade became final. But considering the immense improvement Anthony Davis offers, will both teams agree to the trade?
